Over a span of 45 years I have tried a variety of straps and harnesses, and many years ago, I settled on a smooth, widish leather strap. I carry the binoculars by the ‘safari’ method over one shoulder, hanging slightly above waist level, on the side opposite that of my rifle. This works well but has limitations because the binoculars tend to bounce and sway when you bend over to stalk or crawl on all fours. To prevent this you have to place them behind your hip on your lower back, though they tend to slip off from time to time.
